Qatar 2022
Doha - Thousands of fans took to the streets of Doha on Thursday, blaring horns and waving flags in celebration at Qatar winning the bid to host the 2022 football World Cup.
'This is a moment of joy for all Arabs, everyone in Doha is on the street exploding with happiness and pride,' said Ali el-Hagary, a Qatari national, as he took a momentary break from celebrating the win.
Qatar will be the first Middle Eastern country - and first Islamic nation - to host a World Cup tournament and among the cheering supporters in Doha were citizens of other Arab countries, also waving their national flags with joy.

‘Sachin considered me friend, not charity case’ - കുചേലനെ തേടി കൃഷ്ണന്.

Sachin is not only the best cricketer in the world Human being with a Good heart.
"I wish to walk up to Sachin and thank him, says Dalbir Singh Gill who was discharged from hospital after hip replacement surgery"
-------
Dalbir Singh Gill, who underwent a hip replacement surgery on May 19, was discharged on Friday. His Rs 6-lakh medical bill had already been taken care of by master blaster Sachin Tendulkar.
Dalbir, who had played u-15 with Sachin, told Mirror: “I am very happy. I will have to undergo a similar surgery 3-4 months later. In the meantime, I will have to undergo physiotherapy to keep fit.”
Expressing his deepest desire, he said, “I wish to walk up to Sachin and thank him.”
Tendulkar, who was in the city to attend one of his sponsors’ in-house meet, visited Dalbir post surgery at Shalby hospital. Said Gill, “There are people who forget their friends once they become rich and successful. Sachin is a true friend. He could have just donated the money. He need not have met me. But he did. He considered me a friend, not a charity case.”
His mother, who had tears in her eyes on seeing Dalbir walk with the aide of crutches, said, “Sachin must have helped a lot of mothers like me. We will always pray for him. We want him to continue playing cricket and bring glory to India.”
Dalbir’s sister and brother also thanked the staff of Cadbury’s for their unfailing support through all these years. “They have been paying him a salary even though he has not worked since his accident in 2002. They spent Rs 20 lakh for his initial treatment. We want Dalbir to get back on his feet and return the favours that the company has done for him,” said his sister.
Ahmedabad Mirror had broken the story of this man, who was rescued by cops from his wife’s year-long captivity in his own house (One year as wife’s hostage, April 4). Mentally and physically shattered Gill was rescued from his dilapidated, termite and cobweb-ridden house in Gandhinagar. He was starving, stinking for want of a bath, and so deranged, he was unable to speak. His injuries caused during the accident in 2002, had worsened. It was said he would never ever walk again.
However, Sachin — with whom he had once shared a room — came to his rescue.

Mangalore crash: Airhostess predicted 'quick death'
Labels:

സുജാതയുടെ ഓര്ക്കുട്ട് പ്രൊഫൈല്
All the six crew members aboard the Air India flight which crashed in Mangalore on Saturday morning died. Among them were airhostesses, who had just started living their dreams.
"I hate goodbyes..but I guess it's time," was the haunting message left by Sujata Survase on Orkut a day before she left on the ill-fated flight. Sujata had returned to work after a long vacation and her networking profile reveals how much she enjoyed being home in Mumbai.
Sujata who had worked with Air India for three years had also written about how she hated flying on the KWI sector faced with bad weather and delays which she described as quick death.
Sujata described herself as someone with a lot attitude. Someone who was put off by male chauvinism, but who also described herself as a typical girl.
''In my bedroom you'll find clothes, vanity kit, handbags, am a typical girl but the things are not dispersed, I hate mess,'' reads her Orkut profile.
Sujata loved flying and was excited about her flight to Dubai, unaware of the fate that awaited her.
At her home in suburban Andheri, her family and friends remember her a driven, hardworking girl, who had always dreamed of being an airhostess.
"Since her childhood, she wanted to be an airhostess," said Babu Survase, Sujata's brother.
"She was the backbone of her family. I remember her as a daring girl. She became an airhostesss on her own," said one of her neighbours.
In another suburb of Mumbai, Dombivali, Tejal Kamulkar's story is almost a parallel. Just 25, she had become an airhostess just three months ago. A quiet girl from a modest background, she wanted to set an example by pursuing a career in flying. A reality show buff, but also someone who said she couldn't live without prayer and meditation.
At the home of Harbinder Singh Ahluwalia, the co-pilot on the flight, colleagues poured in to show their support. Forty-year-old Ahluwalia had flown for more than 15 years, and had considerable experience in landing on the difficult Mangalore air-strip. Lives and dreams of these crew members, cut short, in what was one tragic morning.
